Leadership Night 2015.JPG

This semester’s rush week has been chock-full of awesome events. As you will see, the really fun times have yet to come! During our delightful Info Night on Monday, an abundance of potential pledges bonded with the brothers. They transitioned around to different booths that the chapter had set up to learn more about how APhiO can change their lives. We taught the potential new members about the core principles of Leadership, Friendship and Service, as well as the pledge education process and member requirements and benefits. During the event, we all decorated blue and golden cupcakes to their hearts’ content.

Many pledges were quite taken with the chapter’s Puppy Project, which they signed up for eagerly. Naturally, the majority of them continued to attend our engaging Rush Week events. At Wednesday night’s Leadership event, President Patrick Sullivan started a Pandora playlist, for which he took requests from brothers and the rushes. The pledges learned many new skills, including how to play Euchre, do magic tricks in Brother Anna Campbell’s repertoire, tie knots in drawstring fashion Cody Fennig-style, and how to balance cookies in our mouths while painting family trees! The Amazing Race reenactment, filmed in slow motion, truly takes the cake. Just ask President Pat if you want to see for yourself!

For those of you who love Throwback Thursdays, I must say that our Flashback Friday really brought back memories. Board games including Life, Pirate Monopoly, Cranium and everyone’s favorite tower game, Jenga, coupled with copious coloring books, brought out the inner kindergartener in all of us! A Mario Kart marathon ensued as even more potential pledges signed up for Saturday’s Puppy Project and The Spice Girls played in the background. It’s a wonder how anyone was sleepy after enjoying sugary childhood favorites like Fruit Rollups, Hi-C, Gushers and SpongeBob fruit snacks!

The brothers and rushes would certainly agree that they felt close to home at these events, and that these potential pledges would be excellent additions to the families.

In LFS,

Rachel Bulko
